May 2022

After having to postpone our charitable activities in 2020 due to the pandemic, we were thrilled to get back into the swing of things at our Winter Waltz Charity Gala Dinner that took place on Friday 26th November 2021.

The event, which was sponsored by currency transfer experts TorFX, saw over 300 guests come together at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa for a fabulous, entertainment filled night all in the name of charity.

As a whole, the event raised over £136,000 which went to the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation; the charitable arm of St. James’s Place Wealth Management who distribute monies raised through a range of grant programmes to hundred’s of charities each year.

As well as supporting the Foundation, we chose two locally based ‘pledge’ charities for the night, Visyon and Place2Be.

The pandemic has impacted everyone in one way or another, but it has had a particularly huge impact on children and their mental health – something which we are keen to highlight.

Visyon provides free of charge mental health and wellbeing support to children, teenagers and their families across Cheshire, equipping young people with the resilience to lead happy and fulfilling independent futures as young adults.

Place2Be is a national children’s mental health charity that provides vital mental health support in schools for pupils, families and school staff.

After hearing the moving words from the charity’s representatives, attendees were urged to pledge £500 which would pay for children in desperate need of mental health support to have counselling sessions at either Visyon or with Place2Be – potentially life saving sessions which could change a young person’s life.

Following on from the encouragement of the Winter Waltz compere and Happy Radio presenter, Darren Proctor, over 45 Winter Waltz guests pledged their support for both Visyon and Place2Be raising £42,900 between the two charities.

Corporate Partnership Manager at Place2Be, Becca Stimson, commented: “We’re so grateful to the team at Franklyn Financial Management for this kind donation, enabling us to reach more children and young people who are struggling to cope. Place2Be’s support has never been more needed, and this funding will help us towards our mission to ensure that no child faces mental health problems alone.”

Linda de Sa, Fundraising and Marketing Manager at Visyon, stated: “During 2021 2700 children and young people took the first brave step to ask Visyon for help with their mental health which was impacting on their day to day lives, relationships and behaviour. Visyon provides individual counselling, group therapy, mentoring, creative activities and wellbeing support costing almost £1 million a year. This is all made possible with thanks to amazing fundraisers and we’re so grateful for the huge support received to empower Visyon’s young people.”

2021 marked the fourteenth year of our charitable activities and the amount raised on the night of the Winter Waltz takes the total amount raised over the years for the Foundation to almost £1.2million.

We are looking forward to adding to this total at our upcoming charity golf day, the Summer Swing, taking place on Friday 8th July at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa.

Our Winter Waltz charity gala dinner will also be making a return to the Knutsford based venue on Friday 26th November.
