What an Apprenticeship looks like at FFM

Here at FFM we strongly believe that an apprenticeship provides a solid foundation in starting your career. Apprenticeships provide young adults on the job training and an education program providing a qualification, all while getting paid!

Two members of our dynamic team have been given the opportunity to take part in an apprenticeship here at FFM. Chloe joined us in July 2018 after finishing her A-Levels at Congleton High School and began a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Professional Business and Administration before going onto start her Degree Apprenticeship at Manchester Met Uni in Chartered Business Management. Kayley joined FFM early May of 2021 after completing her Extended Level 3 Diploma in Business Management and Marketing at Macclesfield College and has begun her Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship.

We caught up with the girls to get their opinion on Apprenticeships and to take a look at what their day-to-day tasks are here at FFM.

Chloe

How have you found your Apprenticeship so far?
“If I could sum it up in three words, I would say hard but rewarding!”

What challenges have you faced during your Apprenticeship so far?
“I think the main challenge I have faced is the difficulty of balancing my time between my job, my apprenticeship work and my social life. You have to be incredibly disciplined with the hours you have free to do your studies and that sometimes means missing out on some time at the weekend with my friends, but I know it will pay off in the long run.”

What does a day in your job role look like?
“That’s a hard question as no two days are ever the same, but that’s what I love about my job! It can vary from planning and coordinating a client event, to creating new marketing material for the business, to attending networking meetings and much more.”

How have you found your Apprenticeship so far?
“I have only been working for FFM for 3 months and been enrolled on my Apprenticeship course for 2 months, but I have loved it so far! Getting to work in such a dynamic team has been very rewarding as I am learning something new every day. My Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship is 12 months long, hopefully I will be able to progress onto a level 4 in the future.”

What challenges have you faced during your Apprenticeship so far?
“It can be a challenge to try and balance your work for your job and your work for your Apprenticeship. It takes dedication and good time management; I know that I have a good support system here at FFM and they will guide me in the right direction.”

What does a day in your job role look like?
“If I am on an Apprenticeship Day I will come into the office and use one of the internal rooms we have for my lessons. I will be on my sessions all day learning the chosen unit for that class. I have between 1 to 2 lessons every 2 weeks, so far, I have worked on Basic Marketing techniques and Business segmentation, both are very useful and something I can apply to my day-to-day tasks. If it is a normal working day, I will start by scheduling posts, writing internal articles, managing marketing material and handling referrals that come into the business. I will also be working side by side with my colleagues to help with any additional jobs that need completing. I am very lucky to say I love what I do and have so much fun working in the FFM team.”

We are delighted to have Chloe and Kayley in our team and support them on their journey.
