Summer Swing 2022

July 2022

We were pleased to see the return of our very special Summer Swing golf day that took place on Friday 8th July at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa, Knutsford.

The sun shone on the championship course as over 100 golfers came together for our 14th annual event which took place in aid of the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation. Happy Radio presenter and compere for the day, Darren Proctor, welcomed individuals to the event as he hosted his radio show live from the Cheshire venue. Guests of the golf day, sponsored by Franklyn Elite Sports, enjoyed getting involved in plenty of on course competitions hosted by the Franklyn team along with other sponsors and supporters including Bach 95, The Brownlow Inn, Porsche Centre Chester, and Prism IT Solutions.

The fun didn’t stop there as the golfers returned to the club house to the sound of Manchester based singer, Jack Lyons, before enjoying an evening BBQ and entertainment courtesy of comedian, Gary Skyner, and Darren Proctor on the DJ decks. Monies from the event will go directly to the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation who distribute funds through a range of grant programmes to hundred of charities each year, both in the UK and overseas.

Supporting young people is still the Foundation’s largest focus, although their work stretches to also supporting those with cancer, hospice care, and mental health.

Andrew Chatterton, Managing Director here at Franklyn, commented: “Giving back to charity is something that is incredibly important to myself and Franklyn as a business. With this in mind, it was fantastic to get back to The Mere to reignite our usual fundraising efforts at our annual Summer Swing Golf Day.”

“The fact that this was our 14th event is a testament to the support we receive from our clients, friends of Franklyn, business partners, and sponsors who make the event possible and I would like to thank each and every person who has played their part in making this year’s Summer Swing another success.”

TorFX, Hammond McNulty Accountants, and James & Nicholson, were amongst the key sponsors of the event where over 10 other local businesses pledged their support to the golf day in one way or another. The £100,000 raised at the Summer Swing Golf Day takes the running total raised for charity at our events over the years to just under £1.3 million.

We look forward to continuing to add to this figure at our Winter Waltz taking place later on this year on Friday 25th November at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa once again.
