Nick joined FFM over 10 weeks ago where he has been working in the back office assisting our Mortgage Client Managers while going through the St. James’s Place appointing process. He has loved getting to know the FFM team but is now ready to head into branch to begin advising!
Nick will be located in the Crewe Stephenson Browne & Franklyn for Mortgages branch and will eventually merge into the Congleton high street office where he will be predominantly based.
To officially launch Nick into his branch, we sat down and got to know him a bit better!
Growing up in Congleton and living in the town for the majority of his adult life, Nick thought it was only right to join a business which he felt was playing a big part in the growth and development of the town he loves!
“Being part of such a community driven business would be a great opportunity for myself, especially with FFM having a new office on the high street, I’m excited to make my own stamp in the town and to develop with Franklyn!”
Nick’s journey coming into mortgages and the FFM team is something out of the ordinary! Growing up in Congleton, Nick started his career in hospitality working at the fine dining restaurant, Pecks. He found he had a love for working with the public as meeting new people everyday was one of his favourite parts of the job. This led to his Degree in Hospitality and Business Management which took him to some fantastic places such as being a Representative for TUI in Austria for a ski season, to working as a Broker in Car Finance.
“I enjoyed working in the car finance industry but wanted something more stable as I was buying my first home to start a family.”
During his mortgage buying process, Nick took an understanding to mortgages and thought it was something that he could see himself doing: “I took the jump and completed my CeMap exams, I then went on to start my first job in Mortgage Advising at the Co-Operative Bank however, I wanted to feel more connected to the town where I worked and when I saw the job at FFM come available I thought it was the perfect opportunity!”
During his appointing process, Nick spent time at FFM HQ building a great understanding of Franklyn and the team. “I feel it has been valuable for me to start at the head office to get to know everybody and learn how the back office operated before I go into branch, it has created a lovely working environment as I have gotten to know everyone really well.” Now 10 weeks in and fully appointed, Nick is ready to get into branch and start arranging mortgages!
Coming from a hospitality background, Nick can’t wait to get into branch to start to get to know the towns local people
“Working in hospitality and other service-related rolls, I have always enjoyed customer service and to help give someone a better day.”
Nick believes that nurturing the client and treating them as an individual is far more beneficial for everyone involved: “Talking people through the mortgage buying process so that they understand it by the end of our meeting makes a huge difference, the client feels like they’re involved every step of the way.”
Nick mentions that one of his greatest professional achievements has been gaining his CeMap qualification, as this was a key turning point in his career. “It was an expensive gamble to take but I’m glad I took the leap and made the decision to do this!”
With that in mind, Nick can’t wait to achieve more whilst at Franklyn for Mortgages and has set personal goals he wishes to reach in a years’ time. He believes setting individual goals helps keep people motivated and driven: “I want to help the people of my hometown buy their dream homes.”
We are so proud to have Nick a part of the FFM team and can’t wait to see where his journey at FFM takes him!
