We hosted our second Charity Golf Day and Gala Dinner on Friday 17th July 2009, at Astbury Golf Club in Cheshire.
Golfing
A slightly wet day didn’t dampen the spirits of the 22 teams of four golfers who played the 18 holes at Astbury. Each player was presented with goodie bags from Franklyn Financial Management and Prism Total IT Solutions who were the main sponsor for 2009.
Winning Team – Prism
Longest Drive – won by Tony Ormond who was presented with an iPod Touch
Nearest The Pin – won by David Collins-Lafferty who was present with a HP Colour Printer
Gala Dinner
After a slightly damp day of golf 130 guests enjoyed a delicious three course meal which was served in a marquee in the grounds of Astbury Golf Club. Entertainment was provided by renowned comedian Sean Styles and Master of Ceremonies Vince Miller. A game of stand up bingo was won by Steve Whalley of Belvoir Lettings in Northwich and the Charity Auction saw several people bidding on some fantastic items including a Million Dollar Note and a Bang & Olufsen mobile phone which was kindly donated by Bang & Olufsen Wilmslow. The live four piece band, Real Class, kept the guests dancing through until the early hours of Saturday morning.
Funds Raised
The day was a overwhelming sucess raising in excess of £10,500! We pledged £1000 of this money to local charity Ruby’s Fund. The remaining money was matched pound for pound by St. James’s Place meaning an fantastic £19,000 going to the St. James’s Place Foundation. The Foundation supports numerous charities for young people both in the UK and abroad, this year Franklyn also supported a local charity Ruby’s Fund who’s mission “is to provide a rich variety of learning experiences and leisure time for children with additional needs to ensure that they will meet their full potential”..
