FFM of John Bradshaw Court, Congleton, held their 12th Annual flagship charity event on the 11th July 2019 at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa, Knutsford, with over 100 golfers taking to the course during the day and 380 guests attending the gala dinner in the evening with the theme ‘One Moment in Time’.
It certainly was a FFM’s ‘One Moment in Time’ as they raised an amazing £172,500 on the evening, taking the total raised for the St. James Place Charitable Foundation over the 12 years to over £1 million.
Since its formation in 1992, the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation has aimed to make a positive and lasting change to the lives of children and young people through grant giving to charities that are aligned with the main focus of the foundation: children and young people who have special needs through illness, disability or mental health problems.
CAFT, based in Millington, nr Knutsford, help children of all abilities aged 17 and under. Children who through no fault of their own miss out on the normalities of childhood. The needs of the children visiting the Farm are complex and range from severe physical and learning disabilities, sensory impairments and terminal illnesses, through to children who act as carers for a family member, to children who have already faced bereavement and children who have witnessed and been victims of abuse.
CAFT were chosen as the pledge charity for the evening of the 2019 Summer Swing where guests could ‘pledge’ £500 to cover the cost of one child’s opportunity to spend a week on the Farm.
Suzanne Brooks gave what can only be described as a heart-breaking, yet ‘inspiring’ presentation of her own her experience of CAFT and how the charity supported her through the toughest journey. You could hear a pin drop as Suzanne relived her story.
Darren Proctor, Greatest Hits Radio presenter and compere for the evening, urged guests to support Suzanne and CAFT by pledging £500.
The result was 40 guests pledging up to £500 raising £19,550. After matching from St. James’s Place Wealth Management, the total amount raised was £39,100.
CAFT Chief Executive Ian Eccles was pleased to receive a cheque FFM team along with the charity’s Community Fundraiser, Rob Bashforth. He comments: “We’re absolutely over the moon, and very humbled, by the amazing amount raised at the Summer Swing event. The money raised will help us to provide once in a lifetime holidays here at the Adventure Farm for almost 100 children – a massive achievement which everyone who pledged should be so proud of. We can’t thank the FFM team enough for all their hard work, and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported and attended the event.”
Andrew Chatterton, Managing Director of FFM commented, ‘We are delighted to be able to help support such an amazing charity in CAFT. The staff and volunteers at the farm are truly inspirational and the work that CAFT do in putting a smile back on the faces of young children who have experienced so much at such a young age is truly incredible.
For us at FFM to be able to support CAFT through our Summer Swing is an absolute pleasure; we hope all the children and families that get to experience the Farm have an amazing experience which I know they will’.
The Summer Swing 2019 could not happen without the generous support of our main sponsors TorFX, SAS Daniels, Porsche Centre Wilmslow and Prism. FFM would like to thank the generosity of our guests, sponsors and the support from the FFM team.
